More new titles from Cell Press
Curses on whoever came up with the idea of applying the "brand extension" concept to scientific publishing. We've coped with endless Trends and Current Opinions, more recently endless Nature this and that (luckily some of them are physical sciences which we can largely ignore) and now Cell is adding still more titles:
- Cell Host and Microbe (launches Mar 2007)
- Cell Stem Cell (launches Jul 2007)
The good news is that well-known source of public good, the publishers Elsevier, have decided to give us free electronic access to these new titles until the end of 2007. That will give readers enough time to come up with convincing arguments to persuade beleaguered librarians why they are essential titles to subscribe to for 2008.
I could also have mentioned the proliferation of PLoS titles but we don't mind those since online access to them is free.
